Diffuser's 365 Prince Songs series continues with a look at the creation and legacy of "America" from 'Around the World in a Day.'

After a critical stumble on 'Graffiti Bridge,' he was in need of a hit.

Armed with the New Power Generation, "My Name Is Prince" introduces a newborn decade to Prince's chameleon-like cultural adaptability.

When Prince died, there was little doubt as to which of his songs would be used as the soundtrack to the world's mourning.

People were still trying to figure out, you know, what even to call him.

The b-side of "Purple Rain' found Prince taking us to church.

The second time they worked together, however, was a different story.

By 1990, Prince had worked with a sea of diverse, talented singers and musicians, but he'd never worked with a child act. Then Tevin Campbell came along.

Only "Purple Rain" has done more to introduce or define Prince to the world than "1999."
